"Reel It In"
Every Saturday during the month of July between the hours of 1:00 pm and 3:00 p.m. the person who catches the largest trout out the Pay to Fish Pond wins a free movie pass to the Rialto Movie Theater in Grayling.
The Fish Hatchery will have a
booth at the AuSable River Festival Fine Arts and Crafts Show on July 25th and
26th. On the 26th Michigan author Mike DiLorenzo will be at our booth
doing a book signing of his book called "Adventures With Jonny, Let’s Go
Fishing". The Fish Hatchery along with Mr. DiLorenzo will be participating
in the AuSable River Festival Parade. All winners of the Fish Hatchery's search
for the "Whopper of a Fish Tale" are invited to join us.
Winners of the "Whopper of a Fish Tale"
Grayling Elementary and Grayling Middle School students participated in our
search for the "Whopper of a Fish Tale" by writing a fish tale so big that
it outshines the logging tale of Paul Bunyan.
The Fish Hatchery board along with Burger King of Grayling read 160 very
creative tall tales.
Winners for this years tale is:
Whopper of a Fish Tale winner: Emily Leslie for her tale of "Big Bertha" a
logging camp cook who had a mole the size of a basketball.
Fish of a Tale winner:
Alayna Cobb for her tale of "A Big Fish and Two
Small Bugs" who packed larva sandwiches for their fishing trip.
Fry of a Tale winner:
Molly Leslie for her tale of "Michigan's Mighty
Fisherlady" who found herself pulled all the way to Lake Huron.
Small Fry of a Tale winner:
Nicholas Hardick for his tale of " The Talking
Fish" where Sally the Grayling fish asks he keep her secret.
Guppy of a Tale winners:
Rachel Money for her tale "The Prize Pike"
Mark Beckwith for his tale "IT!"
